The successful candidate will be part of the Supply Chain Management team responsible for managing the operational / day to day relationship with our international contract manufacturing partners and suppliers. The Buyer will work to achieve the best balance of inventory, availability and cost to meet customer needs and internal targets. The Buyer will be responsible for placing, tracking, monitoring and reporting status of POs placed with suppliers in accordance with the relevant business processes, in support of the general business KPIs, specifically to meet the required delivery performance towards acre security’s customers.

They will take a lead role in resolving problem shipments from suppliers, invoice queries, customs issues and other operational issues. The Buyer is also responsible for supporting the business by means of maintaining stock at target levels, minimizing obsolete inventory for phase out products and preparing appropriate inventory levels for new product introduction.

The Buyer will work closely with the demand planner to review forecasts for each product, especially when new products are launched, and others phased out. Appropriate purchasing strategy for each portfolio reflected in the SAP planning parameters is required. The Buyer will engage with suppliers to reduce cost and maintain pricing change information. The Buyer will work with logistics suppliers to move products globally, between suppliers, warehouses and customers.

This position will report to the Director of Supply Chain Management and will have key interfaces with suppliers, Customer Service, Project Managers and Product Management to ensure the standard of service required to satisfy our customer needs.

Include the following, but are not limited to:

- Review, query and implement purchase recommendations generated by the SAP materials management system. This includes generating Purchase Orders, communicating POs to suppliers, receiving acknowledgements and performing PO maintenance as needed in order to reflect up to date information in SAP for predictability
- Communicate and build relationships with suppliers regarding shipping performance, open POs, expedite/defer requests, and other issues as needed
- Maintain appropriate stock levels for new product introductions, running products and minimise obsolete/excess inventory
- Take an active role in communicating service and inventory issues across departments and with management, resolve shortages effectively
- Reduce cost with suppliers and cost optimize end to end processes
- Arrange and manage international shipments with logistics providers, providing shipping paperwork as required
- Resolve problem shipments with suppliers and receiving issues at third party warehouses
- Assist in the movement of product between sites for quality or engineering evaluation, and the reverse supply chain returns to suppliers
- Resolve invoice queries e.g. mismatched volumes with suppliers and third party warehouse
- Focal point for Customer Service teams to provide updates on product portfolio availability
- SAP data maintenance to ensure system settings and material master data are up to date
- Utilise and create automated reports to turn data into information into insights
- Own identified department processes for the Supply Chain department
- Continuously improve processes for effectiveness and efficiency
- Some travel may be required in fulfilment of the role
- Third level relevant qualification
- 3 years’ experience working with SAP R3 MM in a material purchasing role
- 3 years’ experience within an inventory/material purchasing role
- 3 years’ experience working with international suppliers
- 3 years’ experience in international logistics
- Procurement/Supply Chain qualifications such as APICS, again with relevant experience as per outlined will be an advantage
- Experience of the management of Material Master Data within SAP would be beneficial
- Knowledge of Export Control Classifications of products would be beneficial
- SAP - good level of working knowledge
- PC skills including Microsoft Office package with emphasis on Excel
- High level of attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work with multiple sets of data
- Effective communication skills (English) both written and oral
- Demonstrated ability to manage and build supplier relationships
- Strong self-drive and team player
- Ability and willingness to develop skills & knowledge (role specific & general business/products) in support of the role
